| Users review: Set during the Franco cleaning exercise after the Spanish Civil War, Guillermo del Toros Pans Labyrinth is a beautiful, dark fairytale metaphor for Spain itself, teeters on the edge of sleep nightmare of corruption, violence and the deaths of innocents. This movie is definitely not for children. Although the fantasy sequences are beautifully realized and fairy tales in the truest sense (that are dark, eccentric, dangerous and violent), most of the stories (about three-quarters of reality) exists outside of Dreamland, even more daunting (and sometimes dangerous) world of real-life fight ideas and ideologi.Sergi Lopez is great and brutal (and possibly sadistic) Falangist Captain in charge of directing the remaining leftists out of the woods and hills of northern Spain. In this difficult situation in terms of his new wife (widow of former marriage, who gave birth to a son) and his stepdaughter Ofelia (played to perfection by then 11 years old, Ivana Bakuero). Uncomfortable with his new surroundings, suspicious of her stepfather and desperately worried about the deterioration of his mother, Ofelia discovers a strange alternative world the opportunity to forever escape the pain and uncertainty of their daily life.Thus film toggles between the world of the civil war in Spain and all the bizarre, dark, and scary world of pans labyrinth. Since the twin plots progress associated with the tasks Ophelia becomes the choice faced by Spain at the intersection. The urgency of the film lies in the fact that the victory of the child are reflected so strongly that the failure of adults vorld.Apparentli Pans Labyrinth won a 20-minute standing ovation at Cannes, as it turned out. It may be a little exaggerated. I guess when the crowd calmed down some will choose to swing the pendulum back and criticize it for its obvious errors. Much of the film is derivative. There are several ideas in the movies magical dreams ports that are not seen. Also, there are some ideas in movies civil war that can not be read or destroyed in Orwell, we can not see the Picasso Guernica, or can not keep up at home and Freedom.For & caron, all the obvious truth of these observations is that to completely miss the majesty pans labyrinth, which is not in its originality, but his absolute mastery of execution. People will watch Pans Labyrinth in such a way that most will not see land and freedom. However, they discover a world of fairy tales that existed before Disney has sunk its fangs into them, dangerous world where nothing is what it seems, and each step can be death? place that can leave even the adults shivering under the covers, in part horror, part in awe. And it's all backed best film I've seen.The only real fault I'm ready to this film is a slight tendency (especially at the end) for a Narnia-like moralism, and the fact that the Faun might not quite wild enough! This is an extremely forgiven, though. This is easily the best movie I've seen this year, and we'll see on the big screen. |
